Haiti benefit concert planned

More than a dozen acts to peform Thursday at the Jet

A benefit concert Thursday to help the American Red Cross assist the victims of the Haiti earthquake will feature more than a dozen area acts.

The event will be from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Jet Ultra Lounge, 4117 S.W. Huntoon, where the doors will open at 8 p.m. Those attending must be at least 18 years old to enter and will be asked to make a $5 minimum donation at the door.

Organized by Deuce Alley Production, 151 Entertainment and the Washburn University Disaster Relief Fund, the concert will feature an eclectic group of performers, including: Bizzy, Burna Bloc, Sabor Latino and Simply Driven, all based in Topeka; C-Dub, Crucial, Dilemma, Mr. Stinky, Urban Safari and X-TAC, all from Kansas City, Mo.; and D-MO, of Junction City.

DJ 151 and DJ Hawk will emcee the event.

All of the entertainers will donate their time so all proceeds can be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.

The Washburn University Disaster Relief Fund also will conduct a raffle of donated items, including hotel rooms, gift certificates, dinners and gaming systems. Merchants with additional items to donate can contact Ronald Ruiz at (785) 817-4042 or Steve Alley at (785) 969-7879.
