Gage Center Bowl

4200 SW Huntoon, Topeka

Whether you're looking for recreation or refreshment -- or both -- you won't be disappointed at Gage Center. Quench your bowling thrist with an ice-cold beer or mixed drink, and don't forget the full-service snack bar. If bowling isn't your game, check out a pool table or the arcade. Special packages for parties of all kinds, fundraisers and corporate events.

Timberline Steakhouse

1425 S.W. Wanamaker Road, Topeka

As the name suggests, Timberline Steakhouse is mostly about food. But it also has a mix of beers on tap and a full bar that draws regulars as well as people waiting for juicy steaks. If you feel some crunching underfoot, it's peanut shells. Customers are invited to partake in free peanuts and then throw their shells on the floor, so beware if you have peanut allergies.

College Hill Tavern

1616 SW 17th St, Topeka

Varsity Blues became the College Hill Tavern in March 2010.

If one of the best beer lineups in the city doesn't convince you try College Hill Tavern, the food menu will. Their motto is "Come as you are to our neighborhood bar."

Reed's Ringside Sports Bar & Grill

4731 N.W. Hunters Ridge Cir., Topeka

It’s no surprise a restaurant owned by former professional boxing brothers Derrick and Damon Reed thrives on sports. Don't even think about turning on the juke box during big games. Catch sports on the 110-inch projection screen, one of five 60-inch TVs or 20 to 30 25-inch sets. Reed's likes its family crowd which turns to a younger, bar crowd as the night goes on. Beer is served in frosty mugs.

Skinny's Sports Bar & Grill

4016 S.W. Huntoon, Topeka

When Chiefs and KU fans gather to pull for their teams, they don’t have to look hard for one of 30 TVs. Skinny's is big on food, too, especially its wings (try them at "volcanic" hotness if you dare). Skinny’s generally can mix what you want from its full bar, but domestic beers are most popular. The crowd skews younger as the night goes on, and there's a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights.
