Cielito Lindo's Mexican Restaurant & Bar

2222 SW Washburn Ave., Topeka

Cielito Lindo's takes it name from a line in a traditional Spanish folk song meaning “pretty little sky.” Owner Dionicio Zaragosa is hoping to recreate the success of the his Lawrence location.

The flavorful menu includes signature dishes such as vegetarian fajitas and the Molcajete. The bar selection includes an array of Mexican beers and specialty margaritas.



El Dorado Mexican Grille & Cantina

3627 S.E. 29th St. #101, Topeka

El Dorado offers an extensive selection of homemade Mexican favorites made from scratch. The house margarita can go head to head with the best in town.

Owners Elias Gallardo and Miguel Escamilla remodeled the restaurant's space extensively before opening in July 2010. The bar has a warm and cozy atmosphere, and the spacious booths are perfect for a night out with friends.



Jose Pepper's

1425 S.W. Wanamaker Rd., Topeka

Jose Pepper's can't be beat if you're craving some delicious tacos or queso with your favorite Mexican beer. Margaritas are the name of the game here, and 2 for $7 golden margaritas are available all day every day - blended or on the rocks. The restaurant's bar has a reassuringly casual vibe, and there's plenty of space if you're out with a group.



El Maguey

2160 S.W. Wanamaker Road, Topeka

El Maguey is the first Topeka franchise of a regional restaurant chain, owned by Juan Jasso and Martin Leon and set to open this spring.

The bar area has several TV screens and a long, curved bar counter for patrons to sit down and enjoy a beer or margarita. “We want people to come in and eat, watch their favorite games and just feel at home,” Jasso said.



Pizagel's

2830 S.W. Fairlawn Road, Topeka

Pizagel is a combination pizzeria and bakery with a bar offering beer on tap and by the bottle, wine by the glass or bottle and a full service espresso bar. The restaurant's bar area features cushioned stools and a flat screen TV. The bar itself has a distinctly industrial look, countered by the room's bold splashes of color and bright decor.



Casa Ramos Mexican Restaurant

837 S.W. Fairlawn Road, Topeka

Casa Ramos complements its authentic Mexican cuisine with 99-cent margaritas Monday through Friday and 99-cent Budweiser and Bud Light draws every day. The warm and friendly restaurant also serves some cocktails from its limited-service bar. (Updated 11.3.09)

Take in a deep breath of hickory-smoked barbecue and head to the small bar to make the wait more bearable. Check out the drink menu including the "Blue Ribbon" drinks, ranging from the Famous Margarita (topped with a brandy float) to the spicy Devil's Spit Bloody Mary. Speck's Bar and Grill

2105 SW Mission Ave., Topeka

Drop by early in the day and you might get to share a can of beer with one of the regulars who knew the bar's namesake, Franklin 'Benge' Speck. From behind a large horseshoe-shaped bar, Specks offers four beers on tap, liquors and coolers filled with both cans and bottles. Speck’s also has wireless internet, Keno and seven flat-screen TVs. For the hungry, Speck's offers a three-pound hamburger.



Midwest Elks Lodge 1441

1316 S.E. Madison, Topeka

Midwest Elks Lodge 1441 has been in Topeka for more than 55 years. Members must fill out an application and pay dues. There are regular club meetings, and women's section and men's section. The nonprofit organization has talent contests and fundraisers for scholarships.
