All Bars

El Maguey

2160 S.W. Wanamaker Road, Topeka

El Maguey is the first Topeka franchise of a regional restaurant chain, owned by Juan Jasso and Martin Leon and set to open this spring.

The bar area has several TV screens and a long, curved bar counter for patrons to sit down and enjoy a beer or margarita. “We want people to come in and eat, watch their favorite games and just feel at home,” Jasso said.

El Mezcal III

5301 S.W. 21st, Topeka

Margarita lovers have spoken, and their choice is El Mezcal III. Of course, it doesn't hurt that margaritas are 99 cents on Tuesdays and Fridays, and the food - especially the cheese dip - is irresistible. Catch the big game on TV in the bar area and check out the bottled beer specials and draft beers. And don't forget: El Mezcal No. 4 is at 511 S.W. Topeka Blvd.

El Mezcal Restaurant No. 4

511 S.W. Topeka Blvd., Topeka

Although its main focus is food, El Mezcal No. 4 offers margaritas, both Mexican and domestic beers and some wine. Dash in for a fast-service lunch or enjoy a relaxed dinner, perhaps on the patio when the weather warms. There are daily drink, lunch and dinner specials. And don't forget: El Mezcal III is at 5301 S.W. 21st, and there are two El Mezcals in Lawrence.

Famous Dave's

1625 S.W. Wanamaker Rd., Topeka

Take in a deep breath of hickory-smoked barbecue and head to the small bar to make the wait more bearable. Check out the drink menu including the "Blue Ribbon" drinks, ranging from the Famous Margarita (topped with a brandy float) to the spicy Devil's Spit Bloody Mary. There's a full bar and plenty of beer to go with the barbecue, from domestics to area brews from Tallgrass and Boulevard.

Gage Bowl North

200 E Highway 24, Topeka

Bowling and beer are almost inseparable, and Gage North's bar won't disappoint there, but mixed drinks are available, too. Let a lane waitress save you steps and a sticky approach. Order something tasty from the snack bar and point the kids toward the arcade.

Gage Center Bowl

4200 SW Huntoon, Topeka

Whether you're looking for recreation or refreshment -- or both -- you won't be disappointed at Gage Center. Quench your bowling thrist with an ice-cold beer or mixed drink, and don't forget the full-service snack bar. If bowling isn't your game, check out a pool table or the arcade. Special packages for parties of all kinds, fundraisers and corporate events.

Goose Again

5630 SW 29th St, Topeka

Formerly Sidelines, Goose Again is a new sports bar located in Fleming Place. Goose Again opened in mid-October 2010 and is more than your typical bar and grill with a wait staff that goes above and beyond the effort you'd expect. Enjoy fantastic drink specials most nights served by a friendly staff and mixed by talented bartenders.

Hatfield's at West Ridge Lanes

1935 SW Westport Dr., Topeka

Take a break from the bowling lanes -- or a family feud -- and enjoy the big-screen TV with a cold beer or mixed drink. Hatfield's full-service bar -- with food close by -- is the perfect place for keglers and sports fans. If the younger family members get restless, send them down the concourse to McCoy's Arcade. Hatfield's and McCoy's, get it?

Henry T's Bar & Grill

1521 S.W. 21st St., Topeka

This spacious bar and grill imported from Lawrence packs in the fans for KU games, but it isn't exclusively a favorite of Jayhawk faithful. Henry T's -- located near Washburn University -- serves up rum specials every day as well as other specials that will quench your thirst. Check out their great wings and burgers served with insane amounts of French fries.

Hooters

6100 SW 10th, Topeka

Hooters' decor is rustic beach scene, delightfully tacky yet unrefined, with Christmas lights up year round and pictures of different celebrities. This is a place to get beer and chicken and look at hot girls. Children are welcome. There are kids menus.
